You see a lot of the archetypal stadium/jumbotron proposals, but a guy proposing to his Colts cheerleader girlfriend on the field during an endzone routine is pretty sweet!
Admittedly, I had thought about an elaborate proposal just once, ever. It was sometime before the last home basketball game during my senior year and I thought, what if? And if he proposed, I wonder how he would do it? The scenario ran through my head like this:
We have finished our halftime routine. It would be my last regular season halftime dance at the Siegel Center so I’m undoubtedly be in tears. As I’m running off the court, wiping away tears and waving to the crowd, Rodney the Ram (our mascot) suddenly stops me! He drags me back onto the court and bends down on one knee. At this moment, I’m be very confused and possibly looking into the pep band to make sure my not-so-secret admirer isn’t pulling some horrible stunt (he has screamed a loud marriage proposal to me before—on more than one occasion). To diffuse my confusion, Rodney takes off his mask and reveals that it’s Ryan in the suit! I’m still be confused, he babbles some sweet somethings, I come to realize what’s happening and start sobbing, then he pulls out a ring and asks me to marry him. Then I cry, we hug/kiss, the crowd cheers, and I run back off the court and start squealing with all the other dance team girls.
Senior Night came and went, and I did cry a lot, but the thought of the proposal never crossed my mind again.
Then before we went to Italy, I thought again… what if?
Nah…
(How Ryan really proposed)
