About The Future Mrs. Paulette

I started this blog way back in the day, maybe a couple months after I got engaged because I was an absolutely clueless bride. Those were the days before Pinterest, so I used this blog to collect all sorts of bridal inspiration. What I found was that I veered more towards the off-beat stuff. I loved the geeky themed weddings and the brightly-colored wedding attire! I loved all the innovative ideas some brides came out with to break the traditions and to celebrate their wedding their own special way!

On Oct. 5, 2012, I had my own semi-off-beat wedding. I shimmied down the aisle to the Piano Guys’ Rockelbel’s Canon, my father-daughter dance was a swing piece, and our signature cocktail was Butterbeer.

Now that I am officially Mrs. Paulette, I still enjoy scouring the web for creative alternative weddings. So here’s to all the TARDIS blue bridal bouquets, and the Portal cakes… thanks for making it hard for me to stop looking at wedding stuff after I got married!

My History with Weddings
(written April 3, 2011)

I went to my first wedding at age 4 when my aunt got married. All I remember from that day was that big people repeatedly trampled on me while I helped serve cake.

Ten years later, I was invited to play piano at a wedding ceremony. It was a really small wedding and apart from fighting a losing battle with a burnt pastry-shaped dress, I spent most of the time with my eyes glued to sheet music. So all I remember from that wedding are the notes to Pachelbel’s stupid Canon in D!

In the past two years, I was invited to three weddings. I couldn’t make the first one because I was dancing at the CAA basketball tournament. I decided to skip the second one to take an ambulance ride to the ER. I missed the third wedding because I had to attend a job training out of town.

So apart from catching snippets from movies and TV shows, I have absolutely no idea what goes into a wedding because I’ve never really been to one. Let’s face it, I was never your typical Monica Geller-Bing. I don’t have a collection of wedding ideas that I’ve been hoarding since age 7. I don’t have that “dream” wedding because I’ve never dreamt of my own wedding! But yes, I am getting married in about a year. I’m absolutely clueless, but absolutely stoked!

This blog will help me organize ideas and gather inspirations for the wedding I’ve always wanted since October 28, 2010 (the day we got engaged).

This blog is also home to my 365 Project. I’m taking a photo every day for 365 days to document the year leading up to the wedding!
